Are you just starting or thinking about learning to play the guitar? What you may or may not know is that picking the right guitar for you actually depends on the style of music you want to play. Are you looking to play mostly Latin, classical or folk songs? Are you a rock or country fan and will spend most of your time playing these kinds of songs? If you haven't already you need to make up your mind as to what style of music you'll be playing so you can get the right beginner guitar. Here are some beginner guitar recommendations.
For Latin and classical songs you'll need a nylon-stringed guitar. Nylon is also much easier than and not as harsh as steel-strings are on your fingers and most tutors recommended new guitarists to get a nylon-stringed guitar. This isn't a bad recommendation but just remember that nylon strings are best for Latin and classical type songs.
If classical isn't your thing and you prefer rock, then for rock songs you'll need a steel string guitar. Steel strings are much harder on your fingers and when you just start out you'll find that it might be a little uncomfortable and sore, but over time you will get used to it and calluses will form on your fingers will which stop them from hurting.
While the above can prove very useful for a beginner to know which guitar to start out with, one more important area shouldn't be neglected, your budget. If you are just starting to learn, then you may find that you don't have much to spend or just don't want to spend too much on a guitar. If you find yourself in this situation, you may just want to pick a beginner guitar. While it may not be the best guitar for the kind or style of music you hope to play, think of it as just a small learning step. When just starting out you should focus more on mastering your technique and guitar playing skills first, or at least getting the basics down.
These are just two types of guitars that are suitable for beginners. Regardless of what guitar you get, just remember that you may want to try out several different kinds of guitars before you make up your mind as to which style and ultimately which kind of guitar you'll get. There is no point in buying an expensive guitar only to discover that the strings are too hard on your fingers or you would prefer to play another style of music and need another guitar.
