Of all the acoustic instruments, the acoustic guitar is the most friendly type to a wide range of amateur and pro musicians. But to become a good acoustic guitar player, there's a long path full of obstacles to overcome. However, things have changed in time, and nowadays, you don't have to attend classes or work with a guitar instructor if you want to learn to play guitar, or most of the other instruments, and even become good at it. For example, I learn to play acoustic guitar online, like many of my friends.
Ever since I've started my study on this beautiful instrument online, I've learned a lot and most important, I've structured my learning on 5 steps. So, here are 5 steps to follow by everyone eager to learn to play acoustic guitar online.
Step 1. Learn Guitar Tabs
Learning to read and write tablature is very important not just for acoustic guitar but for most of the instruments. It's the A,B,C of learning a musical instrument. The information presented in a tab gives you a clear picture of what strings and frets must be played and enables you analyze the line of the song or bit that is written. So, if you learn guitar online, firstly learn to read tabs, then learn the tabs you're interested in. However, a tab doesn't show the rhythm of a song. That's why you must learn chords as well.
Step 2. Learn Guitar Chords
A chord is mixture of harmonically related notes played all together, being an important part of a song. In fact every song is constructed on a related group of chords. Learning and practicing with chords, you improve your rhythm and your musical repertoire. That's why if you learn to play acoustic guitar online, and want to become a good guitar player, you must learn at least one new chord everyday, and practice with at least a few on each guitar practice session.
Step 3. Watch Acoustic Guitar Videos
The Internet is full of helpful videos within which you can study professional guitarists' moves, postures, hands positions, chords, songs and basically anything connected to acoustic guitar learning. Therefore, watching the videos concerning the questions you're interested in, you can improve a lot.
Step 4. Become Part Of An Online Musicians Community
I'm talking here about forums. Since you learn to play guitar online without attending classes, you won't have any colleagues to change opinions with. In this case, a forum or multiple forums that have guitar as a main discussion subject will become your musician community. Plus, this way you will make new friends.
Step 5. Always Ask For Advice
If at a certain point of learning guitar you hit a wall and you observe that your progress is hindered, or that you don't progress at all, don't be ashamed to ask for advice. That's what the forums are for, and even the many videos on the Internet have comments sections, where you can ask a question.
Now, if you cover all these five steps, you can pass to learning songs or composing your own songs. However if you still need guidance, and you don't have to possibility of attending classes because of a busy job or because they are too expensive, the next best thing is to follow an online acoustic guitar learning program.
